Sleep well during calving season by adding Billy genetics to your herd. Short gestation and calving ease with plenty of growth afterwards. An awesome female maker. Owned with Brad Shouldis and Rick Hyland. *limited semen available
Breton demonstrates the synergy of Leonid prepotency with Alap maternal qualities. Breton brings something all his own to his progeny, not just the plowing of Leonid and Alap back into a herd of cows linebred to those genetics. *semen available
Leo as a 2 year old.
Leo in 2025 as a 4 year old.
7105 is a legend in our program. She weaned off a total of 8,591 pounds of calf in her lifetime with a CI of 16@367. Breeding 7105 to Churchill was a no brainer. He’s as long as a train and as big as a house. Just solid. We expect Leo to add depth and length, and longevity. We will be collecting him this spring.

This is 7105 in 2021 at 14 years old and her calf of that summer, the Churchill son, Leo of Volga. The lasting quality of her udder will be built into Leo's daughters.
McKane as a two year old.
McKane in 2025 as a four year old.
You might think it's Shoshone Viking, or Emulation 31 or Alap of Wye that made this bull, but the real story is that McKane is stamped by the good old cow 507 who lived to be 18 years old. McKanes' dam, 609, was one of her few daughters.
Lodi is a good example of this home bred synthesis. His dam, 889, was a master producer with a CI of 12@364. Pairing her with O Mr Banquoe resulted in one heck of a female maker.
507 is the dam of Masterpiece and Master Stroke and Millworks and Margo and several other herd sires. It is not an exaggeration to call 507 a bull maker. Margo is 5 years old now, and his females in production have really shined.
Of the 4 Columbus of Wye sons that walked at Cotton Angus, 6106 had the greatest longevity and prevailed through the most adversity. This suggests he had the greatest fitness. He expressed more Rito and E31 character than his brothers, yet his resemblance to Columbus was strong. Unfortunately 6106 was never collected; he seemed indestructible but no bull is.
Columbus of Wye
Laxton in January 2025
We have had Laxton for three years. “We bought him because of his nuts.” You will notice the WW and YW EPD's on the Wye sires are in the bottom 5% for the business breed. Cotton Angus cattle are not bred for growth performance, they are bred for maternal performance. This is a compelling reason to work with breeders who really know what the old school genetics can do when crossed with other linebred Angus strains...John looks at the cattle, not the numbers.
Millworks as a Yearling in 2022.
Millworks sire is a 507 son by E31 and 507 is also the dam of Millworks. These calves are beyond consistent, they are like little calving ease clones. "507”, born in 2005, is an enduring example of the Cotton Angus stamp of maternal power. With a birth weight ratio of 104, weaning weight ratio of 109 and yearling weight ratio of 108, she is still in production after 14 natural calves and 3 flushes in 17 years. An Alap daughter out of a Leonid/Rito 149 line bred Margaret cow, “507” is the full sister Moofassa and the dam of herd sires Mojo, Maxamillion, Masterpiece, Midland, McCombie, Monument, Masterstroke and Margo....and Millworks.

A Breton of Wye son John bought from Oliver Angus to follow Breton. This is a very correct bull that has sired excellent calves. Beauregard is out of an O Mr Casey 41-97 daughter. Those who study Oliver breeding know the goodness of 41-97.
Copeland of WYE UMF 9753
Prince of Malpas, sire of this bull, was an imported bull born in 1956. John thought a bull that old would probably take him backward on performance (such as it is at Cotton Angus). But, knowing the sons and daughters of Prince of Malpas have had a lasting positive influence in the Wye Angus herd, John gambled that some of this influence would come through. Turns out Prince of Malpas influence propels the cattle forward. Forward in form and forward in function. This result has been consistent across the breeders using the Prince flush brothers.
Below are Past Sale Lot Sires:
933, dam of Bellaman
Bellaman is by Masterpiece of Volga, an Emulation 31 son out of Margaret of Volga 0507. 0507 is an outstanding Alap of Wye daughter 0507 and our proven herd matriarch. Bellaman's dam, Blackbird of Volga 0933, is double a bred Moofassa of Volga daughter, Moofassa being the full brother of 0507. Line breeding in this manner makes Bellaman's dam genetically the same as a 0507 daughter.
Combining the calving ease reliability of E31 and Alap has made Bellaman our go-to heifer bull for the past few years and a favorite walking sire. There are no surprises with this bull, his progeny are consistent with our herd goals and core genotyple. Bellaman reproduces the original Angus traits we never attempt to alter... the old time virtues of calving ease, vitality, longevity, and fertility that remain the baseline for our expectations.
